Pierre Paulin for Artifort Sofa in Black Upholstery
Pierre Paulin for Artifort, sofa model '442/3', fabric, steel, The Netherlands, 1962.
A sofa design by Pierre Paulin made into realization in 1962. The sleek fusion of steel and black upholstery imparts a modern and sophisticated aesthetic to this sofa. The loose cushions contribute to a contemporary, clean design, simultaneously lending a softer and more inviting look while maximizing overall comfort. The addition of slim steel legs enhances the design's streamlined look.
Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) was a French post-war designer who studied sculpture. Paulin saw the importance of the social role of design and for this he looked at Nordic modernity and simplicity for inspiration. A great talent of Paulin was that he could envision the concepts of his furniture in 3D in his mind. Paulin was someone who researched his design thoroughly.
