Holger Johansson for Westal, pair of chandeliers, brass, smoked glass, Sweden, 1952. Measures: 2mtr/82.5in high. This exceptional chandelier by Holger Johansson is rare in its kind and size. In 1952 the chandelier was custom-made for the Filadelfiakyrkans in Malmö that was designed by the architects Carl-Axel Stoltz and Birger Linderoth. The light was placed in the main room with a high ceiling, this explains their size. The design features a brass frame and translucent bulbs that resemble 'pressed' spheres. On four levels six spheres the hanging is beautifully arranged. These midcentury pendants are an original design thanks to the shape, quantity and quality of the smoked glass.
