Pair of Lounge Chairs by Giovanni Gariboldi
Giovanni Gariboldi for Colli, pair of lounge chairs, leather, wood and bronze nails, Italy, circa 1950.
A rare pair of sturdy lounge chairs in cognac leather designed by Giovanni Gariboldi. The easy chairs show voluptuous, round lines. The most iconic feature is the opening in the high backrest, which is emphasized with nails on the back. The armrest start at the same hight of the seat's cushion and flow elegantly upwards. The sturdy conical legs provide this chair with a strong base that match the voluptuous design.
Gariboldi was a famous decorative artist from the 20th century who worked among others with Gio Ponti and Paolo Buffa. These two designer were his inspiration to design besides ceramics furniture as well.
