Pair of armchairs, oak, fabric, France, 1930s
These sturdy French easy chairs are geometric in their forms as it is build up completely in horizontal and vertical lines. The back is structured vertically by means of five slats. The armrests and base have an open construction. The fabric that has been used shows an interesting pattern of graphical lines with a red overtone. The designer was presumably inspired by the shape of 17th and 18th century thrones, with their high, vertical backrest and the straight, sturdy armrests.
Please note that we advise reupholstery before use. This can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsman in our own in-house restoration atelier.
