Pair of Armchairs in Pine for Nordiska Kompaniet Sweden
Nordiska Kompaniet, set of 2 armchairs 'Ekerö, pine, Sweden 1930s.
Elegant set of two dining chairs. Executed in northern European pinewood. The design is simplistic; four tapered legs, solid seating and spindle or slat back. These chairs have a modest and natural appearance, the grain of the pine is nicely visible on the blond chairs.
These chairs show great resemblance to the furniture of Axel Einar Hjörth which he designed for the department store Nordiska Kompaniet in Stockholm. Characterized by sturdy and basic forms in solid, local wood. It is a combination of folklore with the radical esthetics of international modernism.
