Nanna Ditzel for Søren Willadsen, dining chairs, red fabric, oak, Denmark, 1950s.

The dining chairs were originally designed for Magasin Du Nord's exhibition in Forum, March 1952. This set is simple yet very well executed. The chairs feature wide armrests with a slightly tilted back and tapered legs. The circular table has identical tapered legs.

Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005) was a cabinetmaker and became a furniture designer in 1946, and together with her husband Jørgen Ditzel (1921-1961). Nanna Ditzel was a designer who was focussed on the use, need and function of furniture. Her style is therefore very approachable and usefull but at times also bold and experimental. Ditzel made use of innovative techniques and materials.
