These two 1940s Italian nightstands that can double as small cabinets are executed in walnut with sleek black glass tops. Sharply angled side panels taper inward at the floor, giving the pieces a ground but agile posture. The doors are the most ornamented component, framed in concentric rectangular bevels that recede toward a smooth central panel. All the design components – the choice of materials and the clean, geometric form – come together to express the modernist language typical of Italian design in the 1940s.
