Mid-Century Modern French Bookcase in Mahogany with Colored Glass Panels
Large wall unit, mahogany, colored glass, brass, steel, France, 1950s
This delightful bookcase reflects the design principles of the Mid-Century era that rose to prominence in the 1950s and 1960s. The composition is based on four columns, each tailored in the same way, housing a range of open and closed storage units. The upper section is comprised of colored - black, grey, and white - glass door panels, alternated by open compartments containing shelves in the middle. The lower bottom features wooden door panels. One can hide its personal belongings by situating them behind closed doors, or alternatively, opt for a clean and open layout by arranging them upon shelves. A practical detail is the integrated lamp. The black steel base enhances the elegance and sophistication of this piece. This sideboard promises to delight any bibliomaniac or art connoisseur with an appreciation for French Mid-Century design.
