Sale price$24,500.00

Massimo and Lella Vignelli for Poltronova 'Saratoga' living room set three-seat sofa, two-seat sofa, coffee table, cabinet and lounge chair, polyester lacquer and red leather, Italy, 1964.

Captivating large lounge set or living room interior by Italian designer couple Lella & Massimo Vignelli. The Vignelli's were known for their clear designs, this piece is therefore also completely free from decorative details. All attention goes to the essential form and material in this design by Vignelli. The “Saratoga” is one of the first examples of modular and modern living in twentieth century. In their own words: “We have designed this sofa because we really needed a sofa. And the sofa we wanted was one with an architectural character rather that a soft, smooth object. A sofa that could be set out in the middle of the room. We didn’t want it to be pushed up against the walls; we wanted it to move around as needed.”

Kindly be aware that this set is in used condition and shows signs of wear and use common for pieces this age. Restoration can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsmen and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece contains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized restoration is possible as well.
