Martin Visser Sideboards from Bornholm Collection

This rare sideboard is executed in mixed materials. The credenza features a Minimalist black metal base and two cabinets with sliding doors. The frame of this playful sideboard is made from wood and the storage elements feature two white sliding doors. In between these cabinets, there is a an open shelve. These different elements together create a playful expression and make this cabinet into a highly versatile item. The different colors and materials combine beautifully. This sideboard was in the collection from 1956-1959. Only a limited number were produced. Please note that we have two items in stock but that this item is priced per sideboard.
Martin Visser (1922-2009) was a Dutch furniture-designer and art-collector. Visser started designing at young age, but most of all he was an art collector. His collection contains works of Cobra, Anselm Kiefer and Keith Haring. His focus was on young and promising artist. The Kröller-Müller Museum accommodates over 400 works of Vissers art-collection. Martin Vissers career as designer started at department store De Bijenkorf. From 1955 Visser became head of production and design of ’t Spectrum.
