Martin Eisler, armchair, iron, brass, fabric, Brazil, 1955.

This sculptural armchair is designed by Eisler in 1955. The uniqueness of this armchair lies in several qualities. First the quintessential frame that Eisler's pieces have is especially present in this large, grand chair. The frame is biomorphic, almost ant-like and is finished with little brass feet. The seat is adjustable and can be either exactly in the middle as is shown on the first picture or can be placed in an angle, changing this chair into a completely different, sculptural chair. The seat is designed in such a manner that it stays within the frame in a solid manner.

This extraordinary chair is carefully selected by our team for restyling according our philosophy, resulting in a new life for these highly potential pieces of furniture. The chair will be fully restored and reupholstered by the experienced craftsmen in our in-house atelier. This is a great example of the almost endless possibilities our team has to offer, and how we can help you with the re-upholstery of one of your favourite pieces in our collection.

Martin Eisler (1913-1977) was educated in Europe, along with many of the most important Brazilian designers. He studied architecture in Austria after which he moved to Buenos Aires in 1938. In the same year, he founded an architecture firm and organized an exhibition of his furniture. From 1952 onwards he came to Sao Paulo where he worked with Carlo Hauner and Ernesto Wolf to found Móveis Artesenal in 1995 which would later become forma.
