Mario Marenco for Mobil Girgi ‘Sapporo’ Dining Chair in Walnut and Leather

Mario Marenco for Mobil Girgi, dining chair model ‘Sapporo’, walnut, cognac leather, Italy, 1970s

This chair features a wonderful backrest, consisting of two vertical slats distanced from each other. At the bottom and top these are connected, which results in its sculptural appearance. The front legs are straight and build up from two flat pieces. The color of the Italian walnut frame is deep and warm which accompanies the cognac leather seats very well. This design reminds of Scarpa's 'Africa' chairs and the designs of Pierre Cardin, yet the set is featuring its own unique design.

Please note that this item is in good, used condition with visible signs of age and use, including scratches.
