Mario Marenco for Mobil Girgi ‘Sapporo’ Dining Chair in Walnut
Mario Marenco for Mobil Girgi, dining chair model ‘Sapporo’, walnut, cognac leather, Italy, 1970s
Beautiful and iconic piece of design by Mario Marenco for Mobil Girgi. This chair features a wonderful backrest, consisting of two vertical slats distanced from each other. At the bottom and top these are connected, which results in a sculptural appearance. The front legs are straight and build up from two flat pieces. The color of the Italian walnut frame is deep and warm which accompanies the cognac leather seat very well. This design reminds of Scarpa's 'Africa' chairs and the designs of Pierre Cardin, yet the set is featuring its own unique design.
Please note that this piece is in good, used condition. The leather is patinated and the wood shows some irregularities common for its age and use over time. Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsmen and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece contains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
