Lucian Ercolani for Ercol, sofa model ‘355’, stained beech, metal, fabric, United Kingdom, 1950s

The ‘studio sofa’, as Ercol describes it, derived from the ‘Originals’ series in the 1950s/1960s. All elements of the ‘Original’ collection were designed by the Ercol founder Lucian Ercolani as timeless, functional designs for private homes and office interiors. The frame of curved, tapered spindles that provide armrests for the ‘355’ is joined by an oval board that functions as backrest. Special feature is the adjustment of the backrest which allows you to take it off and turn the sofa into a daybed or chaise longue.

Please note that we advise reupholstery before use. This can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsman in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
