Percival Lafer, pair of lounge chairs, leather and wood, Brazil, 1960s
Bulky and grand lounge chairs by Brazilian designer Percival Lafer. This set features a solid dark wooden base with leather straps spanned between the slats. The tufted leather seating is placed on top of the leather straps and the wooden frame, and connected to the frame by wooden joints. The armrests are casually mounted to the wooden frame. Sturdy lines, strong use of local woods and a combination of impeccable woodworking mark Percival Lafer's furniture.
Percival Lafer began making furniture in the early 1960s. He had the true modernist view, and wanted to bring good and affordable design to everyone. His furniture is characterized by a modern and contemporary design in addition with local woods from Brazil.
