Louis Kalff for Philips, desk lamp ‘Romeo’, metal, The Netherlands, 1960s

Beautiful desk lamp by Dutch architect and designer Louis Kalff. He is known for his lamp designs for the Dutch company Philips. During his career, Kalff designed various series of lights for this company, whereby the ‘Romeo’ table lamp is part of these creations. This particular item shows a solid construction built off a disk-shaped metal shade in a grey color that is hold by a long shaped diagonal stem and can be adjusted to your own preferences. The round black base shows the Philips label. Due to the construction of the shade, the light bulb not only shines downwards but also upwards through a circular gap, resulting in a soft light partition.
