Lips Vago Set of Five 'Congresso' Bookcases

Sale price$12,700.00

Lips Vago, 'Congresso' shelving units, black and red lacquered steel, Italy, 1960s.

Constructed from steel sheets, the 'Congresso' shelf is a sturdy yet unassuming bookcase that can be used on either side, making it a versatile addition to any space. The metal sheets at the end of the shelf are placed upwards, doubling as bookends. The shelf is created by Lips Vago, a merger between Italian blacksmith company Vago and Dutch locker company Lips, which designed models for archives and libraries, including this one. Its popularity was such that it was awarded the Smau Industrial Design Award in 1968.

The items are in good, used condition. On some parts there are some scratches visible due to use and age of these shelving units. If desired, restoration is possible before shipping by our experienced craftsmen and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece contains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized restoration is possible as well.
