Holger Johansson for Westal, chandelier, brass, smoked glass, Sweden, 1952
This large, exceptional chandelier features a brass frame and translucent bulbs that resemble 'pressed' spheres. This midcentury pendant is original thanks to the shape, quantity and quality of the smoked glass. The chandelier is designed by the Swede Holger Johansson and produced by Westal. The model was custom made in a small number for the Filadelfiakyrkans in Malmö that was designed in 1935 by the architects Carl-Axel Stoltz and Birger Linderoth. This explains its size and rarity.
