Large Set of Twenty Bentwood Armchairs by Ton 1960s
Ton, large set of armchairs, bentwood and plastic, Czech Republic, 1960s
This elegant set of dining chairs, manufactured by Ton, features a wonderful bentwood frame. This is one of the most well known designs, featuring large curved armrests and an open back. The chairs are aged wonderfully, which only attributes to their authentic look.
Please note we have a larger number of this model in our collection, which makes these chairs perfect for a large scale interior project.
TON was founded after WWII in former Thonet factories and continued with the furniture making tradition set up by Thonet. In the 1960s, the TON company asked various architects to contribute in research and develop new design forms by using the renown technology of bentwood, leading to new, more contemporary designs.
