Large candle stand by P.J. Breugelmans Ashman, attributed to Jan Eloy Brom & Leo Brom, forged bronze, the Netherlands, 1930

With seven candleholders and a total height of 140cm this candle stand has an impressive seize and great example of the 'Amsterdamse School'. From a round base rises the candle stand upwards which has three plates on each side and one in the middle. Decorative forms are added to this truly well-balanced design. The forged bronze shows an admirable patina. The stand of this piece is engraved with 'PASCHEN 1930, P.J.BREUGELMANS AHSMAN'. Petrus Johannes Breugelmans en Bernardina Joanna Josephina Ahsman were married in 1920 in Rotterdam. The date on the stand is named 10 years after their wedding and might have been a precious gift for the couple.
