Knud Juul-Hansen Chest of Drawers with Integrated Vanity in Teak

Sale price$8,450.00

Knud Juul-Hansen, chest of drawers with integrated vanity, teak, oak, mirrored glass, leather, Denmark, 1950s

This exceptionally rare cabinet with integrated vanity is crafted by the cabinetmaker Knud Juul-Hansen. The piece is compact in size but full of quiet complexity. At first glance, it presents as a modest, upright chest of drawers; clean lines, balanced proportions, and a flat front punctuated by four wide drawers fitted with round oak knobs. But the real intrigue of the piece lies in the angled section at the top. With a simple gesture, this upper panel folds outward and reveals a hidden vanity mirror, neatly framed in wood and supported by an angled lid that transforms into a small tabletop. There are no visible mechanisms or decorative flourishes. Instead, the ingenuity is embedded in the joinery and proportions. The choice of teak, with its rich hue and subtle sheen, further enhances the cabinet’s quiet luxury, while the oak knobs act as discreet accents.
