Kastholm & Fabricius Early 'Grasshopper' Lounge Chair in Cognac Leather

$26,700.00

Jørgen Kastholm & Preben Fabricius for Kill International, lounge chair, model FK87 'Grasshopper', leather, steel, Germany, 1968.

This modern chaise longue is executed in steel and leather. The playful position of the steel feet that continue in the armrests are responsible for this chair's nickname, the 'Grasshopper'. Besides this slick and Minimalist design, this chair is one of the most comfortable midcentury pieces that we know. The soft cognac leather upholstery is in fair condition. Most of the furniture of Danish designer duo Fabricius and Kastholm was produced by the German manufacturer Kill International, such as this early version of the FK87 chair.

Preben Juhl Fabricius (1931-1984) and Jørgen Kastholm (1931-2007) became friends in the 1950s at the School of Interior Design. In the 1960s they started a collaboration. Although they have worked also individually, it is as a duo that they have achieved their greatest success. During the eight years of partnership they managed to create a wide selection of very high-quality designs. The results were often minimalistic and functional designs in steel, glass and leather. Most of the furniture of the Danish designer duo was produced by the German manufacturer Kill International.
