Karl Wittmann Pair of ‘Independence’ Benches in Camel Leather

Karl Wittmann for Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten, pair of benches, leather, teak, Austria, designed in 1968.

This rare pair of benches is designed by the creative and talented designer Karl Wittmann. The whole unit is characterized by a splendid construction that epitomizes a simplistic, natural and timeless aesthetics. The tufted camel leather is well-designed showing a solid construction of delicate lines and round edges. The seat rests on a platform executed in teak that is based on an elongated moon shaped frame, which creates a floating appearance. As a result, this brings a more open and inviting look to the quite solid design. The age-appropriate patinated cognac contributes to the rich and warm appearance of the benches.
