Kai Lyngfeldt-Larsen for Søborg Møbelfabrik, set of lounge chairs '501', teak, fabric, Denmark, 1960s

This set of sculptural '501' lounge chairs also nicknamed 'Japan Chair' is executed in teak. This name refers to the aesthetics of this model, featuring Japanese architectural principles; straight lines, simplicity and the use of natural and practical materials.
The chairs are made with a slatted back and bottom, which are connected by large, round sculpted slats. The sturdy design features beautiful warm grains in the material and carved, delicate forms. Especially the legs where the feet are hour-glass shaped enhance the unique design of this pair of Danish fireplace chairs.

Please note that we advise reupholstery before use. This can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsman in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
