Kai Kristiansen, sideboard, white lacquer, chromed metal, Denmark, 1960s.
This relatively low sideboard is designed by Kai Kristiansen for Feldballes Møbelfabrik. The sideboard features three tambour doors and the interior features white lacquered sliding trays. The classic geometric body of the sideboard is complemented with four solid teak legs. These legs are circular and are finished with chromed metal feet. Kai Kristiansen (1929-) was trained as a cabinet maker and worked for a couple of years under Kaare Klint. In 1955 Kristiansen started to work as a designer to and opened his own design studio. As a designer he collaborated amongst others with Kjersgaard and Fritz Hansen. Kai Kristiansen style is defined by clean lines, simplicity and high-quality materials such as noble wood.
