Kai Kristiansen Large Wall Unit in Teak circa 1955
Kai Kristiansen for FM Feldballe Denmark, seven panels shelving unit, teak, Denmark, circa 1955.
This large 5.2mt/17ft wall unit was designed by Danish designer Kai Kristiansen. The cabinet consists of seven panels with several storage facilities. There are eight cupboards and many different shelves, including one that can be used as a small writing desk. The piece features typical Scandinavian modern characteristics, such as use of modest lines and characteristic flame and grains in the wood. The size and warm colour of the aged teak provide this cabinet with a grandeur. The piece used to be in a Swiss home where it covered a complete wall.
The wall unit is in good condition and shows some signs of age and use. Some compartments have light scratches on the top and the panels have small damages on the top and bottom. There is a subtle difference in wood tones between the compartments due to sunlight. This can all be solved by the experienced craftsmen in our in-house atelier.
