Joan Pou Set of Six Rationalist Armchairs in Pine and Cognac Leather
Joan Pou, set of 6 armchairs, pine and leather, Spain, 1960s.
This set of six armchairs from Spain is strict, purist and belongs to the rationalist movement in Spain. The chairs feature an architectural frame, build up from only horizontal and vertical lines. These slats overlap each other at every crossing, which emphasizes the architectural constructions. Spanish designer Joan Pou made these chairs for a hotel in Spain.
The seats are upholstered with thick saddle leather in cognac, which shows a light patina. The backrest is slightly tilted for extra comfort. Also the armrests are covered with this thick saddle leather.
The chairs are in good condition and show a light patina on both the leather and the pine. A sturdy set of the rationalist movement that would work very well with a muscular dining table in stone or wood.
