Jean Prouvé Set of Eight Reclining Chairs
Jean Prouve´, reclining chairs, steel and canvas, France, design circa 1930, Manufactured by Tecta, 1983
This extremely rare set of chairs was designed by Jean Prouve´ in 1930. Originally only 8 of these were produced, for Prouvé's sister. In 1982/83, Prouve´ collaborated with Tecta for the editions, which were produced for a short period.
The chairs consist of two pieces of steel tubing, which are connected by a welded steel part. The chairs still contain the original purple canvas upholstery, featuring a cushion on the seat, and two bars spanned for the back. These chairs are rare to find, especially such a large set like this.
