Jabob Kjær for Jacob Kjær Møbelhaandværk, pair of 'UN' armchairs model 'B37', original black leather, mahogany, Denmark, design 1949, manufactured 1957

Stunning pair of 'UN' chairs by Jacob Kjær manufactured in 1957. The Danish designer Jacob Kjær was creating this particular model for the United Nations Building in New York City. The strong, elegant form of the round backrest in combination with the light frame, forms a truly balanced composition. Lightness is created through the slim proportions of the frame which is executed in mahogany. Together with the original black leather with admirable patina this pair of armchairs is visually striking. A manufacturer's label can be found under the seat.
