Italian Illuminated Goatskin Cabinet 1940s
Cabinet, wood lacquered goatskin, Italy, 1940s
This Italian chest is highly elegant and refined. The panels, handles, and patterned doors are all exquisitely produced. There are closed compartments such as drawers, doors and shelves. In the top of the cabinet three light sources are placed. The cabinet features traits of the style of materials of the Italian Aldo Tura who worked between the idioms of Art Deco and modernism.
Tura's trademark is his use of rich materials, sculptural forms and artisanal techniques. In a time where many furniture producers were adjusting their production methods toward mass production, Tura remained committed to exquisite and traditional craftsmanship.
