Italian Custom-Made Writing Desk and Chair
Desk, elm and mahogany, Italy, circa 1950
This delicate, sculptural desk and chair are designed in Italy, circa 1950. This sculptural way of designing has a lot in common with the design of Carlo Molino and Carlo de Carli. The piece has several interesting elements. Note the top which is executed with strips of mahogany and elm which creates an interesting graphic pattern. The top itself hold a freeform bent shape. The leg is created with an very interesting architectural hour-glass shape that ends in four high, sharp points. The other side of the desk has an element with two drawers and four small, tapered legs. Comes with a matching high-legged chair that holds several similar aesthetic elements such as the high, pointy legs (seat height 42cm).
