italian-bulky-low-slung-modular-sofa
Italian Bulky Low-Slung Modular Sofa
Avilla, modular sofa, fabric, beech, Italy, 1980s

This bulky, low-slung sectional sofa captures the relaxed confidence of Italian design in the 1980s. Rather than appearing light, rational, or structurally explicit, the sofa embraces mass. Its generous upholstered volumes seem to swell outward, softening the boundaries between seat, backrest, and armrests until the object reads almost as a single continuous body.

The sofa sits close to the floor, supported by short wooden feet. This low centre of gravity gives it a grounded, informal character: instead of asking the sitter to remain upright, it encourages them to sink, recline, and inhabit the furniture.

Kindly note that the sofa is in need of reupholstery. We advice you to reach out to our design specialists to discuss the endless possibilities regarding reupholstery in our in-house atelier.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0289/5187/1548/files/50119606_St_P_5_1913d4e3-9f1d-445f-8dc6-c0000d01ef27.jpg?v=1792762812
