Ib Kofod-Larsen Set of Six Armchairs in Rosewood and Natural Leather
Set of six armchairs, in rosewood and leather by Ib Kofod-Larsen, Denmark, 1950s.
Set of six elegant conference chairs by Danish designer Ib Kofod-Larsen. These dining chairs have the characteristics of the iconic Elizabeth chair of Kofod-Larsen. The seating shows great resemblance, so as the beautifully curved armrests. The nearly straight legs reveal it is a dining chair instead of a lounge chair. These chairs are upholstered in natural beige leather, which is in good condition. The loose cushions on the seating ensure the comfort of these great designed chairs.
Ib Kofod-Larsen (1921-2003) was an architect and furniture designer. In 1956, he got an assignment from the Swedish furniture maker OPE Möbler to design a series of “Danish” furniture in order to breathe life into the dying Swedish furniture industry. Kofod-Larsen main trait as a designer was his focus on the natural qualities of materials such as grains and patterns of the wood. He made those qualities often the central theme of his designs.
