Hartmut Lohmeyer for Wilkhahn Lounge Chair in Teak and Cane
Hartmut Lohmeyer for Wilkhahn, lounge chair, teak, cane, green upholstery, Germany, 1960
The lounge chair by Hartmut Lohmeyer is organically shaped. The wide open teak frame features a slightly tilted back made out of cane. The softly bent armrests and open frame create a very calming, inviting space. The seating cushion is upholstered in a green upholstery. Due to the filigree frame the design is airy and light.
Hartmut Lohmeyer (1923-) was trained as an architect at the Technische Hochschule in Karlsruhe. Here he studied architecture under Egon Eiermann and later became a furniture designer. He developed furniture for the home in particular for Wilkhahn in the 1950s and 1960s.
