Hartmut Lohmeyer for Wilkhahn, lounge chair, teak, cane, cream colored upholstery, Germany, 1960
The lounge chair by Hartmut Lohmeyer is organically shaped. The wide open teak frame features a slightly tilted back made out of cane. The softly bent armrests and open frame create a very calming, inviting space. The seating cushion is upholstered in a cream color. Due to the filigree frame the design is airy and light.
Hartmut Lohmeyer (1923-) was trained as an architect at the Technische Hochschule in Karlsruhe. Here he studied architecture under Egon Eiermann and later became a furniture designer. He developed furniture for the home in particular for Wilkhahn in the 1950s and 1960s.
