Guillerme and Chambron, lounge chair, green checkered fabric and oak, France, 1950s.

This French designer duo is known for their extreme high quality solid oak furniture, from which this lounge chair is another great example. This chair has a very interesting shape looking from the side. The armrests are small and pointy whereas the legs and frame blend over into each other creating a gap between the seat and the armrest. With this design it still keeps it's solid expression, but does create an open look. The curved slatted back makes an elegant addition to the angular design. The frame of these chairs is very sculptural with extravagant shapes which can provide either a very elegant or rough expression, depending on their location and upholstery.

This set is upholstered in green checkered fabric, which is in good condition. We are able, thanks to our in-house atelier, to reupholster these chairs in any type of fabric. The professional and experienced craftsmen in our in-house atelier are specialists in the reupholstery of design furniture. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value. Feel free to ask for more information. Please note that a custom made reupholstered chair has a lead-time of 6 to 8 weeks, in order to meet our high standards.

The French designer duo Jacques Chambron (1914-2001) and Robert Guillerme (1913-1990) started their production in the postwar period. Many of the furniture designed by this duo this piece shows a strong character and has a great expressive woodwork. The duo installed themselves in an old factory were the machinery was used to make rifles. Guillerme & Chambron saw the potential of these machinery and decided to continue production as it was installed and used them for the design of their high back chairs. The line of different furniture pieces was made in small editions. They call their collection “Votre Maison” which means “Your home.”
