Guillerme et Chambron, double bed with nightstands, oak, France, 1960s

This set's main feature is obvious: It's all about the wood work. The excellent crafted frame has stunning sculpted detailing on the head- and footboard, which gives it a very luxurious and cosy feel to lie in. The open structure of the wooden frame give the bed a sculptural appearance as well. Two night stands executed in oak complement the bed. This remarkable pair with a geometric shape show elements of balance on opposite sides, and a game of proportion. They are pretty corporal but are easy to lift and can be placed easily anywhere. These sculptural pieces have a triangle foot and a little shelving unit as a body. Furthermore they are typical for the style of Guillerme and Chambron through the use of oak and the fact that they are carved. Together, this set will lift up the ambience of every bedroom interior.

The French designer duo Jacques Chambron (1914-2001) and Robert Guillerme (1913-1990) started their production postwar. Many of the furniture designed by this duo shows a strong character and has a great expressive woodwork. The duo installed themselves in an old rifle factory. Guillerme and Chambron saw the potential of the machinery and decided to use them for the production of their high back chairs. The line of different furniture pieces was made in small editions. They called their collection “Votre Maison": “Your home", focusing on the design of furniture for everyday life.
