Guillerme et Chambron, extendable dining table, oak, ceramics, France, 1960s

This extandable dining table by Guillerme et Chambron features beautiful ceramic tiles. On the main rectangular tabletop four tiles are combined in eight squared inlays. The multicolored ceramics show individual detailing. With two additional leaves this table is exandable on both short sides. The four are paired together and connected with a diagonal slat. They feature decorative wooden details.

The French designer duo Jacques Chambron (1914-2001) and Robert Guillerme (1913-1990) started their production in the postwar period. Many of the furniture designed by this duo this shows a strong character and has great expressive woodwork. The duo installed themselves in an old factory were the machinery was used to make rifles. Guillerme & Chambron saw the potential of these machinery and decided to continue production as it was installed and used them for the design of their high back chairs. The line of different furniture pieces was made in small editions. They call their collection “Votre Maison” which means “Your home”.
