Guillerme et Chambron Drop-Leaf Table in Oak
Guillerme et Chambron, drop-leaf dining table, oak, 1960s.
Large freeform shaped dining table with inlayed top. This table is perfect to place against a wall, or for additional seat placed free in the interior thanks to the drop-leaf. The sculptural base has the characteristic shapes as seen on other 'Votre Maison' items, with sculptural, sturdy legs. These are slightly tapered and connected to each other in the center.
The French designer duo Jacques Chambron (1914-2001) and Robert Guillerme (1913-1990) started their production in the Postwar period. Many of the furniture designed by this duo this piece shows a strong character and has a great expressive woodwork. The duo installed themselves in an old factory were the machinery was used to make rifles. Guillerme & Chambron saw the potential of these machinery and decided to continue production as it was installed and used them for the design of their high back chairs. The line of different furniture pieces was made in small editions. They call their collection “Votre Maison” which means “Your home”.
