Guillerme et Chambron Corner Desk in Oak
Corner desk in oak by Guillerme et Chambron, France, 1960s.
Corner desk by French designer duo Guillerme and Chambron. This executive desk shows the fine craftsmanship and line work that characterizes the work of this designer duo. The stained oak has aged beautifully. The basic construction and clear shape give the piece a staid appearance. Due to the open frame the storage units and the top seem to be floating, which adds a certain lightness to the design. The front edge of the desk, where the user sits, is gently curved underneath. This is one of the refined details to be found in this model. Another nice detail is the rectangular inlay in the top.
Jacques Chambron (1914-2001) and Robert Guillerme (1913-1990) started their design production post war. They installed themselves in a factory were the machinery was used to make rifles. Guillerme & Chambron saw the potential of these machinery and decided to continue production as it was installed and used them for the design of their designs.
