Guillerme et Chambron, double bed, oak, France, 1960s

This bed's main feature is obvious: It's all about the wood work. The excellent crafted frame almost resembles a basket, which gives it a very comfortable an cosy feel to lie in. The clear structure of the wooden slats give the frame a sculptural appearance as well.

The French designer duo Jacques Chambron (1914-2001) and Robert Guillerme (1913-1990) started their production postwar. Many of the furniture designed by this duo shows a strong character and has a great expressive woodwork. The duo installed themselves in an old rifle factory. Guillerme and Chambron saw the potential of the machinery and decided to use them for the production of their high back chairs. The line of different furniture pieces was made in small editions. They called their collection “Votre Maison": “Your home", focusing on the design of furniture for everyday life.
