Guglielmo Ulrich Grand Reupholstered Wingback Chair 1930s
Guglielmo Ulrich, high wingback chair, fabric and wood, Italy, 1930s.
Grand high back chair newly upholstered by the experienced craftsmen in our in-house atelier. This chair features an exceptional high backrest with wings, giving it a very theatrical appearance. Typical for Italian midcentury design are the curvy, bold shapes such as the voluptuous armrests. The green feet are small and conical.
This chair is a comfortable classic winged chair with an elegant high back that will fit perfectly in a cosy corner.
Guglielmo Ulrich (1904-1977) was an Italian furniture designer and architect in Milan. In 1930, he co-founded the furniture company ARCA (Arredamento Casa) of which he was the designer.
Ulrich’s early designs are in an elegant and highly finished Art Deco style, which was very popular among the high society of Milan. Ulrich was praised for his ability to combine the functional with original and beautiful form, while also experimenting with rare and exotic materials.
