Grete Jalk Sofa in Oak and Checked Fabric
Grete Jalk for P. Jeppesen, sofa, oak, fabric upholstery, Denmark, 1960s This sofa is designed by Grete Jalk in the 1960s. It features not only a beautiful designed shape but also has hidden storage space in the oval backrest. A wooden frame in oak with open corners is held by two legs rising up to the backrest. The low seating and backrest are upholstered in a green and black checked fabric which contrasts with the bright frame. Grete Jalk (1920-2006) was one the Danish designers who formed the basis for Classic design in the 20th century. Her designs are recognized by clear, sensuous forms. Her pieces are focused towards comfort and human needs. Her designs can be recognized by the implementation of inventive elements in both material and design.
