Giuseppe Rivadossi for Officina Rivadossi Highboard with Shelves in Oak
Giuseppe Rivadossi for Officina Rivadossi, library or sideboard, oak, Italy, 1980s
An exceptional wall unit by the Italian sculptor and designer Giuseppe Rivadossi, featuring a high-level of craftsmanship in woodwork. There are two cabinets situated on the lower part of the piece, the door panels feature square cutouts, adding a wonderful rhythmic and haptic surface to the front. Above the cabinets, you find five shelves that can be altered in height to your personal liking. This graphical visualization is intensified by the properties of the oak which shows a variety of wood tones. An extraordinary piece, established by intensive hand-planed and trimmed finishes.
Giuseppe Rivadossi (1935) was born in Monteclana di Nave, Italy, where he still lives and works. At a young age, Rivadossi's path begins with wood carving, with works reflecting on his poetic idea of living. In 1962 Rivadossi took over the carpentry founded in 1920 by his father Clemente, which he transformed into an atelier, or rather a creative workshop. Eventually, Rivadossi and collaborators established 'Officina Rivadossi' in 1976 where he started the manufacture of wooden objects and unique modern furniture.
