Giuseppe Rivadossi for Officina Rivadossi, coffee table, oak, Italy, 1980s
An exceptional coffee table by the Italian sculptor and designer Giuseppe Rivadossi, featuring a high level of craftsmanship in woodwork. This item embodies a striking textured surface that is hand carved by gouge cut, which gives this piece its distinctive aesthetics that Rivadossi is known for. This graphical visualization is intensified by the oak's properties which shows a subtle variety of wood tones. An extraordinary piece, established by intensive hand-planed and trimmed finishes.
Giuseppe Rivadossi (1935) was born in Monteclana di Nave, Italy, where he still lives and works. At a young age, Rivadossi's path begins with wood carving, with works reflecting on his poetic idea of living. In 1962 Rivadossi took over the carpentry founded in 1920 by his father Clemente, which he transformed into an atelier, or rather a creative workshop. Eventually, Rivadossi and collaborators established 'Officina Rivadossi' in 1976 where he started the manufacture of wooden objects and unique modern furniture.
