Giulia Veronesi Pair of 'Perla' Lounge Chairs in Original Floral Fabric
Giulia Veronesi for I.S.A. Bergamo, pair of 'Perla' lounge chairs, original fabric and wood, Italy, 1950.
Curved, organic and sculptural, this chair is anything but minimalistic. The small diagonal feet feature a triangle shaped and are tapered and therefore rest on a small end only. The seat however is voluptuous and large and therefore this well-constructed chair seems to defy the laws of gravity and balance. The large armrests are wing shaped and flow naturally into the back. Also the armrests are turned upwards creating a dent at the beginning of the armrest which gives elbows rest. The chairs hold its original, floral fabric, which attributes to its theatrical appearance.
The fabric is in fair to good condition. The piping on one of the chairs is damaged and the interior needs to be replaced.
