Giovanni Battista Bassi, wardrobe, walnut, metal, 1970s

Giovanni Battista Bassi (1926-2013), one of the founders of the Italian furniture manufacturing company Potronova, designed this unique wardrobe. The whole piece is based on a splendid design featuring clear lines and rectangular shapes. If you look closely, the wood grains of the walnut are identical between each wardrobe, illustrating a beautiful, interesting pattern that adds visual texture and rhythm to the front. Functionality comes into play through the great amount of storage space this item holds. Furthermore, each panel is equipped with a handy flush pull handle in metal that underlines the essence of the design. Taking everything into account, the walnut material has an incredibly warm texture that shows admirable patina, and in combination with the characteristic traits, the wardrobe gives the room a lively ambiance.
