Giovanni Battista Bassi for Poltronova Set of Ten 'Elisa' Armchairs
Giovanni Battista Bassi for Poltronova, set of ten armchairs model 'Elisa', velvet, fabric, lacquered beech, Italy, 1960s
These wonderfully constructed chairs are based on a solid construction where clear, fluent lines are allowed to emerge in the design. Note how the backrest runs over into the front legs in a curvaceous manner. This feature serves as a shell, embracing the sitter in a graceful manner. These chairs have a fierce and strong character. Six chairs are upholstered in a delicate green velvet and the other four chairs are furnished with a brown fabric. This set of 'Elisa' dining chairs of Italian origin finds itself at the intersection of art and design.
Please note that the brown fabric is in fair condition. Reupholstery is possible before shipping by our experienced craftsman and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
