Giovanni Battista Bassi for Poltronova Set of Four 'Elisa' Armchairs
Giovanni Battista Bassi for Poltronova, set of four armchairs model 'Elisa', fabric, lacquered wood, Italy, 1960s
These wonderfully constructed chairs are based on a solid construction where clear, fluent lines are allowed to emerge in the design. Note how the backrest runs over into the front legs in a curvaceous manner. This feature serves as a shell, embracing the sitter in a graceful manner. These chairs have a fierce and strong character. The frame is executed in a light grey color and the seats are upholstered in a brown fabric. This set of 'Elisa' dining chairs of Italian origin finds itself at the intersection of art and design.
