Gianfranco Frattini for Bernini, set of eight armchairs model ‘831’, leather, walnut, 1981
This delicate set of eight armrests is designed by the Italian master Gianfranco Frattini for Bernini. The whole unit is characterized by a splendid construction that epitomizes a simplistic, natural and timeless aesthetics. A sophisticated composition is created through the arrangement of vertical and horizontal lines that form the wooden frame in walnut. Thereby, the seat and backrest are upholstered in a delicate leather finished with a red color, which is divided in four straps adding visual texture to the overall design. The combination of the warm look of the wood and the sturdiness trait of the leather results in a luxurious and chic appearance. This delicate set truly intensifies the experience of dining itself and is a standout in any contemporary room.
Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004) was an Italian designer and architect. Similarly to many other architects, Frattini became an interior and Industrial designer because he missed the specific furnishings for his buildings. Frattini was a very skilled woodworker and was a student of Gio Ponti. His style can be defined by its architectural structure and playful lines.
